Finishing my 3D Model

I decided to go into the bulb of my

ghost lamp model in more detail, so I moved it from the lamp to develop it on its own. I added a screw base using the lathe tool and changed the material of the glass to a different bitmap which looks more realistic. I also reduced the opacity as I felt it needed to look more transparent.

I wanted to add a light source to the bulb, however when I tried this it didn't show through the outside from the filament inside. I therefore added a glow to the outside of the bulb to try and give this effect. It doesn't look as good as I had hoped, as it doesn't look very believable, however it gives an idea of what the lamp may look like when the bulb is lit.

I added a light source above the bulb to try and create shadows, which made it look slightly more believable, although it still didn't look as realistic as I had hoped.

Despite this, I'm really happy with how my ghost lamp looks. I had never created a 3D model with this much detail or used 3DS Max before this project, so it was definitely a challenge. However, I learned a lot of new techniques for 3D modelling which will be very useful in future projects.
